Your pack record

Work through the stages in order. Open the linked plans to make the relevant observations, then return here to keep the result.

STAGE 1

Match the schedule to real use

Record severe-driving conditions and the fixed/flexible oil-mode exception.

Keep: A supported Schedule 1/2 choice and oil mode with the applicable table.

STAGE 2

Check what the invoice proves

Match inspections, replacements and lubrication with real dates/mileage; preserve missing work.

Keep: An item-by-item completion ledger and dated outstanding-work plan.

STAGE 3

Reconcile the Type B display

Use the actual work record to review Scheduled, Tire Rotation and Oil Change separately.

Keep: Correct completed-item reset/result and unrelated reminders retained for future work.

Review your next step

  • Type B audio and the chosen US schedule are both confirmed.
  • A reset display is not used as substitute evidence of maintenance.
  • Outstanding or unverified work stays in the exported closeout record.

Include the unresolved items so this record is useful at the next check or service visit.

Complete task plans

Read each linked plan here, or open its task page to keep a separate observation record. Printed copies include every plan.

Choose the correct maintenance schedule

Compare actual driving conditions with the US manual’s normal / severe schedule criteria.

Vehicle: 2017 Mazda3 · US

Applicability and exclusions

  • Other model years and markets; imported Axela or diesel models; modified or aftermarket components with a different procedure.

Preparation, tools and materials

  • Park in a safe place away from traffic. Work with the vehicle stationary, parking brake set and ignition off unless a step explicitly calls for a parked functional check.
  • Is the car a US gasoline 2017 Mazda3, with its real driving conditions known?
  • Keep children and pets away from tools, fluids and coin cells. Never enter underneath the vehicle.
  • Owner’s manual
  • Your normal driving pattern notes
  • No consumable needed.

Record the evidence

Record which driving condition selected the schedule and whether the oil-mode exceptions apply.

  • Actual normal/severe driving conditions
  • Chosen US schedule
  • Oil-maintenance mode
  • Applicable official table and unresolved items

Steps

  1. Read Schedule 1 / Schedule 2 criteria on printed page 6-4 before using an interval table.
  2. Compare your driving with the listed conditions: repeated short trips, dust, long idling / low speed, salt, rough or muddy roads, extended brake use, long cold / humid / hot use or continuous mountain driving.
  3. If any listed severe condition applies, choose Schedule 2. If none applies, use Schedule 1 for the US vehicle.
  4. For flexible engine-oil maintenance, extended idling / low-speed operation or dusty use calls for Schedule 2 with fixed oil maintenance.
  5. Prepare a service plan from the correct official table, using its time and mileage limits. Unknown history or warnings need service advice rather than an invented interval.
  6. Record which driving condition selected the schedule and whether the oil-mode exceptions apply.

Decision checks

Is the car a US gasoline 2017 Mazda3, with its real driving conditions known?

  • Yes — ready for this check: Continue with the steps, stopping if the real component differs from the manual.
  • Not yet / not sure: Preparation saved. Return when the condition is confirmed; leave the vehicle untouched.
  • Different market / engine, unknown service history or an urgent warning: Driving conditions / history uncertain or warning present: ask a service provider to establish the correct plan.

What schedule selection is supported by the driving history?

  • Official Schedule 1 or 2 identified and its interval table ready for use: Does the selected schedule reflect all actual severe conditions and the oil-mode exceptions?
  • Driving conditions / history uncertain or warning present: ask a service provider to establish the correct plan.: Driving conditions / history uncertain or warning present: ask a service provider to establish the correct plan.
  • I have only prepared the plan: Plan prepared; no physical maintenance result recorded.

Does the selected schedule reflect all actual severe conditions and the oil-mode exceptions?

  • Schedule and oil mode supported by driving history: Official Schedule 1 or 2 identified and its interval table ready for use
  • The observation or repeat check is still incomplete: Plan prepared; no physical maintenance result recorded.
  • History uncertain, oil-mode conflict or urgent warning: Driving conditions / history uncertain or warning present: ask a service provider to establish the correct plan.

Recheck

When driving conditions change, does the chosen schedule and fixed/flexible oil setting still apply?

Stop and get help if

  • Different market / engine, unknown service history or an urgent warning
  • Driving conditions / history uncertain or warning present: ask a service provider to establish the correct plan.
  • A part, label, connector or fastener differs from the cited manual; access requires raising the vehicle; you cannot identify the correct component.

Keep for service

Preparation, tools and materials

  • Park in a safe place away from traffic. Work with the vehicle stationary, parking brake set and ignition off unless a step explicitly calls for a parked functional check.
  • Is the correct US schedule chosen and are the available invoices readable?
  • Keep children and pets away from tools, fluids and coin cells. Never enter underneath the vehicle.
  • Invoices showing work and date/mileage
  • Chosen US maintenance schedule
  • No consumable needed

Record the evidence

Create an item-by-item ledger; distinguish inspected, replaced, lubricated and unverified work.

  • Applicable schedule and oil mode
  • Invoice item/date/mileage evidence
  • Missing or conflicting completion evidence
  • Due actions and chosen booking/review date

Steps

  1. Record Schedule 1 or Schedule 2 and the actual driving conditions supporting it. Record fixed/flexible oil tracking separately.
  2. For Schedule 1, use printed pages 6-5–6-6. Copy the applicable item and its time/distance requirement, including whichever comes first.
  3. For Schedule 2, use printed pages 6-7–6-8. Distinguish inspection, replacement and lubrication; an invoice saying inspection does not prove replacement.
  4. Match each applicable item with its invoice date and mileage, then mark completed, due or unverified. A cleared reminder alone is not a maintenance record.
  5. Save the unresolved items, missing invoices and next booking/review date. Ask a service provider to establish unknown history; do not restart an interval from today without evidence of completed work.
  6. Create an item-by-item ledger; distinguish inspected, replaced, lubricated and unverified work.

Record the evidence

Record the exact tab, actual completed work and before/after values; preserve unrelated reminders.

  • Confirmed Type B audio screen
  • Invoice item actually performed
  • Scheduled/rotation/oil values before any reset
  • Changed item and remaining unrelated reminders

Steps

  1. While safely parked, open Applications on the home screen, then Vehicle Status Monitor and Maintenance.
  2. Review Scheduled, Tire Rotation and Oil Change separately. Each represents a different maintenance reminder.
  3. Match the service record to the exact item completed. Do not reset an item that was not actually performed.
  4. Select Reset for the completed item only, following the official Type B monitor instructions. Flexible and fixed oil settings reset different tracked values.
  5. Verify the relevant reminder value changed as expected and retain the real service record. An unexplained remaining warning needs inspection rather than repeated resets.
