What the official report says

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 2014-2019 Ram 1500 vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel engines. A high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failure may introduce internal debris into the fuel system, potentially resulting in fuel starvation.

Official NHTSA campaign record

Why the reported issue matters

Prepare your observation

Record an existing fuel-related symptom without opening fuel-system parts or deliberately running the vehicle out of fuel.

A reported defect describes the campaign. It does not establish what caused a symptom on your individual vehicle, and absence of a symptom does not establish that an open recall is complete.

The reported manufacturer remedy

Dealers will replace the HPFP, and inspect and replace, if necessary, additional fuel system components, free of charge. Interim notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed July 21, 2022. Owner notification letters for were mailed for Jeep Grand Cherokee owners starting January 11, 2024. Owner notification letters for Ram 1500 owners were mailed March 7, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLS's number for this recall is Z46.

Your campaign-specific service questions

Use these questions with the official report. Keep the answers beside the remedy record; “discussed” records a conversation, not a completed repair.

  1. Does the manufacturer confirm that campaign 22V406000 applies to this VIN, including the report’s equipment and production restrictions?

A matching model and year is only a starting point. The official lookup or manufacturer must establish the individual vehicle’s status.

  2. What remedy, required parts or software, and appointment arrangements are currently available for this VIN, and which interim instructions apply?

The source does not explicitly establish current remedy availability. Ask the manufacturer about the applicable remedy, required parts or software, appointment arrangements and any interim instructions.

  3. Which fuel-system component or reading is covered, and what interim handling or transport instructions apply?

Compare the answer with the reported component: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP.

  4. If an inspection determines which work is needed, what was inspected, what was found, and which corrective work followed?

Ask for the inspection result as well as the final action. A parts list alone may not describe an inspection-based remedy.

  5. Which items in the reported replacement remedy for 22V406000 were replaced, and are they identified on the work order?

Keep the replaced items and the campaign number together so that a later visit can distinguish recall work from other repairs.

  6. What dated document records the remedy performed under 22V406000, and what should I do if the reported concern remains?

Keep campaign completion and unresolved symptoms as separate questions. A saved worksheet or booked appointment does not establish a repair.
