What the official report says

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Camry Hybrid vehicles. The instrument cluster display may fail during vehicle startup, deactivating the hazard lights, turn signals, seat belt warning system, and smart key reminder. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 101, "Control and Displays," 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment," 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention," and 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Official NHTSA campaign record

Why the reported issue matters

An instrument cluster that fails to display critical safety information increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Prepare your observation

Keep the affected display or visibility function and the circumstances of an observed problem in the record. Do not recreate a visibility failure in traffic.

A reported defect describes the campaign. It does not establish what caused a symptom on your individual vehicle, and absence of a symptom does not establish that an open recall is complete.

The reported manufacturer remedy

Dealers will update the display software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 28, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TB16 and 26TA16.

This campaign is open

Confirm current interim instructions, remedy availability and service arrangements. Keep the dated answer.

Not listed as open

Keep the campaign number, remedy and date together. Ask separately about a symptom that remains after the visit.

Your campaign-specific service questions

Use these questions with the official report. Keep the answers beside the remedy record; “discussed” records a conversation, not a completed repair.

  1. Does the manufacturer confirm that campaign 26V511000 applies to this VIN, including the report’s equipment and production restrictions?

A matching model and year is only a starting point. The official lookup or manufacturer must establish the individual vehicle’s status.

  2. What remedy, required parts or software, and appointment arrangements are currently available for this VIN, and which interim instructions apply?

The source does not explicitly establish current remedy availability. Ask the manufacturer about the applicable remedy, required parts or software, appointment arrangements and any interim instructions.

  3. How will the work record identify the display software update and the affected hazard lights, turn signals and warning functions?

The report links the startup display failure to multiple functions. Keep any existing observation separate from a conclusion about its cause.

  4. Which of Toyota campaign numbers 26TB16 and 26TA16 applies to this VIN, and will it appear with 26V511000 on the record?

The official record lists both manufacturer numbers. Let Toyota identify the applicable record rather than choosing from the model year alone.

  5. Which image, lamp or visibility function is covered by this campaign, and what should I do while the remedy is outstanding?

Compare the answer with the reported components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HAZARD FLASHING WARNING LIGHTS:SWITCH; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE; SEAT BELTS:FRONT:WARNING LIGHT/DEVICES.

  6. Which module and software completion record demonstrate that the update for 26V511000 was applied?

Ask the service provider how the campaign-specific software remedy is documented. A dashboard reset is not evidence of the specified update.

  7. What dated document records the remedy performed under 26V511000, and what should I do if the reported concern remains?

Keep campaign completion and unresolved symptoms as separate questions. A saved worksheet or booked appointment does not establish a repair.
