What the official report says

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2026 bZ Woodland vehicles equipped with a tow converter. An electrical short circuit may occur within the tow converter printed circuit board, which can deactivate the electronic stability control system and cause the brake lights to remain illuminated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards numbers 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems for Light Vehicles” and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Official NHTSA campaign record

Why the reported issue matters

Driving with a disabled electronic stability control system or continuously illuminated brake lights can increase the risk of a crash.

Prepare your observation

Keep existing warnings or observations for service. This guide does not ask you to probe wiring, disconnect a battery or open a high-voltage assembly.

A reported defect describes the campaign. It does not establish what caused a symptom on your individual vehicle, and absence of a symptom does not establish that an open recall is complete.

The reported manufacturer remedy

Dealers will replace the tow converter, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 30, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TB15 and 26TA15.

Your campaign-specific service questions

Use these questions with the official report. Keep the answers beside the remedy record; “discussed” records a conversation, not a completed repair.

  1. Does the manufacturer confirm that campaign 26V512000 applies to this VIN, including the report’s equipment and production restrictions?

A matching model and year is only a starting point. The official lookup or manufacturer must establish the individual vehicle’s status.

  2. What remedy, required parts or software, and appointment arrangements are currently available for this VIN, and which interim instructions apply?

The source does not explicitly establish current remedy availability. Ask the manufacturer about the applicable remedy, required parts or software, appointment arrangements and any interim instructions.

  3. Do the equipment records confirm the tow converter covered by 26TB15 or 26TA15 is fitted to this VIN?

The recall applies to vehicles equipped with the specified converter. This guide does not ask you to open or probe it.

  4. Does the work order identify tow converter replacement and any reported stability-control or brake-light concern?

A brake lamp staying on and a stability-control concern are observations to tell the provider; neither establishes an owner diagnosis.

  5. Which electrical component or software function is covered, and what interim charging, parking or use instructions does the manufacturer give?

Compare the answer with the reported component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

  6. Which items in the reported replacement remedy for 26V512000 were replaced, and are they identified on the work order?

Keep the replaced items and the campaign number together so that a later visit can distinguish recall work from other repairs.

  7. What dated document records the remedy performed under 26V512000, and what should I do if the reported concern remains?

Keep campaign completion and unresolved symptoms as separate questions. A saved worksheet or booked appointment does not establish a repair.
